Haven

Dark, wanting an escape,
from the misery, the frowns,
the glowering sky.
The harsh and biting outside world.

Gravity and this terrible
excuse of a day
are crushing me to the sidewalk.
I trudge reluctantly.

I reach home,
my haven of escape,
and am weightless.
I breathe deeply.

My apartment family greets me
and I nearly cry
settling onto my favorite couch.
Satisfying as perfect dreams
and immune to outside’s greys.
