heavy air

These were hot nights
with nonexistent
breezes.
Laying in bed with
chlorine tangled hair
on hot pillows
was like drinking hot
soda in a can.
Ruined by heat.

Falling asleep
was an escape
but took
the only cool hours.

Dreams of rain
and cold winds
led to sour mornings
that felt like afternoons.

Hello, dropped in to catch up on reading your new poems and fiction. Each post is a tiny gem. I really enjoy the way you express yourself.

how i hate the heavy air of july and august.
you have known it. you have captured its essence.
it is winter ,i will try to forget this curse of memory you have wrought upon me.
